Canes

CaneCanes support up to 25% of a person's weight and may prevent falls. The two types of canes available are single point canes and quad canes.

A single-point can provides minimal support during ambulation and is appropriate for people who have slightly decreased balance, poor coordination, or muscular weakness.

A quad cane is a cane with four points in contact with the ground. It is available with either a wide or small base. The quad cane is more stable than the single point cane. People who have had a stroke or brain injury and have significant muscle weakness in both the arm and leg on one side may benefit from a quad cane.

hospital bedThe hospital bed is the centerpiece of the homecare environment. It allows for positioning and safety not possible with standard beds.

The most popular types of hospital beds include:

  • Semi-Electric Hospital Bed - This bed allows for raising and lowering the head and the knee break through the use of an automatic hand-held control. Raising the entire bed height is accomplished through the use of a manual crank.
  • Full-Electric Hospital Bed - This allows for the raising and lowering functions of the head and knee break, along with the entire bed height adjustment through a hand-held control.
